About me

My name is Simon Horton. I'm a potter currently based in South Oxfordshire, UK. I use a variety of techniques to make stoneware pots intended for use and display in the home, with glazes developed myself through many hours of experimentation. I'm inspired by pots which prioritise form, from medieval slipware to early Chinese and Korean pots, through C20th stoneware. The pots I admire the most are quiet, understated and modest. Much of my current work is fired in a reducing atmosphere in a small self-built gas kiln, with a limited range of wood-fired pots occasionally available.

My work is avaialble via the wonderful Objects of Use, both in their Central Oxford store, and online: https://www.objectsofuse.com/

I accept bespoke commisions. Please contact me to discuss collaborations: [email protected]
